The contents of Na, K, Ca, Mg, Mn, and Fe were determined, and compared with those by flame photometry, flame atomic absorption spectrometry, ICP-MS and ICP-AES. The 600 V of the applied voltage was found to be suitable for the present sample solution at the use of a sample holder made of resin. The precision of the emission intensities for iterative measurements was improved by a normalization procedure with an emission line from the atomic hydrogen, and the relative standard deviations were ca. 20%. Results of quantitative analysis of soil-extracts by LEP atomic emission spectrometry were discussed based on geological data around the sampling area.
