(英) The muscle oxygen supply is determined by many factors such as vasoconstriction, drving forces, vasodilation, mechanical factors. PURPOSE: In order to identify the mechanism of peripheral circulation, the blood vessel structure and muscle oxygenation in the forearm area were measured during a high intensity period of static handgrip exercise. METHODS: The artery diameter (Di) and mean blood flow velocity (MBV) in the ulnaris artery was measured by an ultrasound colored doppler imaging device. The level of muscle oxygenated Hb (oxy-Hb) in the flexor caripi ulnaris muscle was determined by a multiple near infrared imaging device. Six healthy subjects performed the1min-sustained isometric handgrip exercise without using their thumbs at 60%MVC. RESULTS: During the trial, there was no significantly difference of Di. Compared with the rest value (0.02±0.02m/sec), the MBV during contraction and recovery was significantly faster (0.07±0.04, 0.23±0.15, respectively). The flexor carpi ulnaris muiscle had a deoxygenation and it has a re-oxygenation during recovery. CONCLUSION: Although the ulnaris artery diameter did not change during high muscle contraction, the higher blood flow velocity and greater re-oxygenation suggested that larger circulatory compromise at the ulnaris area might have occurred at the capillary beds.
