(英) In The Center for Innovation and Creativity Development (CICD) of The University of Tokushima, we have planed and supported the independent activities of students' projects. These projects are extracurricular activities, and we have aimed at bringing up excellent human resources who can exert originality and ingenuity and design something totally. An example of projects is LED project, the members of which searched for new applications of LED. These projects are made up of students who are in different years and in different faculties and departments. The members of LED project had skills to make an in-line screen, which showed a three-dimensional afterimage of LED. We made the members plan an event for children, and they managed to teach children how to make a toy which showed a two-dimensional afterimage, though it consisted of several LED and a few parts. They designed the toy so that a child could make it comparatively easy, manufactured a toy by way of trial, and tried over a whole procedure. In this example, we have concluded that teaching children is effective for students in improving abilities of comprehensive design in engineering.
